The Constitution was finalized and signed by 39 individuals on September 17, 1787, the day we now celebrate as “Constitution Day.”

The Constitution is STILL the law of the land! It outlines how our national government is "supposed" to operate and lays out the responsibilities and restrictions of that government. It also specifies rights guaranteed to EVERY American, rights that need to be understood by all.

Take time to read this special edition of the ORIGINAL Constitution of the United States, (including The Bill of Rights, with Amendments 11-27) and The Declaration of Independence. It is identical to the original Constitution, housed in the Archives in Washington, D.C.., in spelling, capitalization and punctuation.

On the front cover there is a picture of George Washington holding a quill in his hand, inviting each of us to pledge our commitment to The Constitution of the United States.

Wreaths Across America - Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC
Wreath Ceremony Day is approaching fast. We want to make sure you have all the information you need to make plans to attend. Remember to dress for the weather. After all, this is South Carolina, you never know what the weather will be.

Schedule of Events For This Year’s Ceremony
When: Saturday December 17, 2022 Ceremony Starts at Noon
Where: Fort Jackson National Cemetery 4170 Percival Rd. Columbia, SC 29229
Parking & Specific Arrival Times. Parking will be at the Blue Cross Blue Shield parking lot across from the cemetery at 4101 Percival Road. The Sheriff’s Department will direct you to the parking lot. We will have shuttle buses to bring you to and from the cemetery starting at 10:00am until noon the morning of the ceremony and resume to return you back to the Blue Cross Blue Shield parking lot once the ceremony is over and public wreath placement has begun. Once you have placed your wreath, you can board a bus to take you to your car.
Handicap Parking There will be limited handicap parking in cemetery with proper identification.
Family Wreath Placement: If you wish to place your family members wreath, please take the shuttle bus over between 10:00am and 11:00am and let the Bus Captain Volunteer know. They will direct you to the Family Table and you will be escorted to place your wreath prior to the public ceremony.

Joy Bartlett · A LETTER FROM AN ELDERLY WOMAN FROM A NURSING HOME

I am 82 years old, I have 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a room of 12 square meters.

I no longer have a home or expensive things, but I have someone who will clean my room, prepare food and bedding, measure my pressures and weigh me.

I no longer have the laughter of my grandchildren, I don't see them growing, hugging and arguing. Some come to me every 15 days, some every three or four months, and some never.

I no longer work in the winter, I don't bake cakes, I don't dig up the garden. I still have hobbies and I like to read, but my eyes quickly hurt.

I don’t know how much longer, but I have to get used to this loneliness. Here at home, I lead group work and help those who are worse than me as much as I can. Until recently, I read aloud to an immobile woman in the room next to me, we used to sing together, but she died the other day.

They say life is getting longer. Why? When I’m alone, I can look at photos of my family and memories I brought from home. And that's all.

I hope that the next generations will understand that families are born to have a future (with children) and that they do not forget about the family even in old age.

Please don't show this to my children.
